This summer let me be...me! Discovery Camps is where I can be me!
Campers grow physically, inlectually, spiritually, sharing adventures in the great outdoors, by campfire, on a nature hike, or during an afternoon swim.
Located near Valparaiso, Indiana, this site includes 8 winterized units, an outdoor pool and shower house (available for use June through August,) athletic fields, and a Dynatrack. Each unit has flush toilets, a kitchen with range, refrigerator and equipment.
Each camp has 10 slots available to keep the experience more personable. Reserve your child's spot quick before we fill up. Camp Rohan accepts all major Credit Cards and requires a $100 non-refundable deposit to reserve you child's spot. Each child is required to wear boots with a small heel for safety purposes. The site of present-day Valparaiso was included in the purchase of land from the Potawatomi Indians by the U.S. Government in October 1832. Chiqua's town or Chipuaw was located a mile east of the current Courthouse along the Sauk Trail. Chiqua's town existed from at or before 1830 until after 1832. The location is just north of the railroad crossing on State Route 2 and County Road 400 North. Located on the ancient Indian trail from Rock Island to Detroit, the town had its first log cabin in 1834. This log cabin was later used as the hiding place of Charles Manson in 1975. Established in 1836 as Portersville, county seat of Porter County, it was renamed to Valparaiso in 1837 after ValparaÃso, Chile, near which the county's namesake David Porter battled in the War of 1812. The city was once called the "City of Churches" due to the large number of churches it was home to at the end of the 19th Century.
