About Huron County, OH
Huron County is a county located in the state of Ohio , United States . As of 2010, the population was 59,626. Its county seat is Norwalk . The Norwalk Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Huron County. The county was named in honor of the Huron Indians who once lived in the Great Lakes region. The word "Huron" may be French, although this origin is disputed. The county lies in the former Connecticut Western Reserve and more specifically, in a subregion called the Firelands . At formation, Huron County consisted of all the Firelands. Sections in the north now belong to Erie and Ottawa Counties, while a township in the south is now part of Ashland County.
