History of Osborne County, KS
19th century Osborne County was named after Sergeant Vincent B. Osborne, Second Kansas Cavalry , who was wounded at the Battle of Wilson's Creek during the Civil War. Frontiersman Charles "Buffalo" Jones lived in a sod house for a time in Osborne County prior to his co-founding Garden City , Kansas, in 1879.
